The scientific name of this agave species is derived
from Greek and means “Rhodacanta,“ which transla-
tes to „agave with the red thorns“, and Espadin “little
sword”. This ensemble profile of the cultivated Mexi-
cano, combined with Espadín, creates a unique mez-
cal merging into a complex combination of both agave
distinctive flavor profiles.
Character: Full-bodied and harmonious ensamble
with herbal, fresh, slightly sweet, and a hint of cit-
rus. Combining Espadín‘s roundness with Mexicano‘s
complexity. The Mexicano brings earthy, fruity, smo-
ky, and anise notes, while Espadín provides structure
and balance. A strong ensemble expression, ideal for
both neat sipping and mixing in spirit-forward cock-
tails, as a mezcal Old Fashioned.
